Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement 

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce & CVB (MBACC) is committed to the promotion and practice of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The MBACC sees diversity as social identity markers that define and influence one’s life experiences. This could include many things, such as race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression religion, age, ability, nation of origin,  We see equity as ensuring that our staff, member investors, partners and stakeholders have the tools and resources they need to be successful. Inclusion is making sure individuals and diverse groups are represented within all aspects of MBACC’s operations, programs, and promotions.

MBACC demonstrates our commitment to DEI by offering a variety of opportunities for education which helps to define and promote DEI. For example, we offer the Educated Voices On Leading and Valuing Equity (EVOLVE), an informative series that allows our staff, member investors and stakeholders to gain a better understanding of the importance of DEI in the workplace as well as in our community. We also have a DEI Council that promotes growth and enhances community awareness regarding the value of building and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workplace.

We are proud to be a certified sensory-friendly destination, and we promote inclusion, accessibility, and equity through  ‘The Beach is for everyBODY’ initiatives. We also place an emphasis on DEI within  tourism advertising and promotions, trade show participation,  FAM tours, and  vendor selection, ensuring that  our visual materials, messaging, and targeting are inclusive of diverse and underrepresented and marginalized groups.

We at the MBACC & CVB will continue to put DEI initiatives at the core of our mission. The beach is for everyone! Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand are places where diverse individuals and groups are included and can feel that they belong.


DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION COUNCIL

The mission of the MBACC Diversity Equity & Inclusion Council is to promote growth and enhance community awareness about the value and advantages of creating and sustaining diverse and inclusive businesses and workplace environments. Diversity is defined as any respect in which people or groups may differ, including race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, ability status and veteran status. Our goals are to encourage entrepreneurship, support the growth and development of businesses owned by individuals from underrepresented and marginalized groups, cultivate diversity leadership by providing resources and services for our diverse business community and help the community recognize the importance of all consumers.

Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce offers DEI education through our EVOLVE Series. The EVOLVE Series is a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) approved class and provides two professional development credits per session completed.
