The inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic, the first ever PGA TOUR event held in Myrtle Beach, not only marked a significant milestone in the history of professional golf, but also generated a substantial economic impact for the region known as “The Golf Capital of the World.”

The field for the 2024 Myrtle Beach Invitational is set and will feature three schools that participated in the 2024 National Invitational Tournament - Bradley (Missouri Valley), Princeton (Ivy), and South Florida (American Athletic).

Middle Tennessee (Conference USA), Ohio (Mid-American), Portland (West Coast), Texas State (Sun Belt), and Wright State (Horizon League) will also be competing in the sixth annual event.

College football bowl season will return to the Grand Strand with the fifth edition of the Myrtle Beach Bowl on Monday, Dec. 23, at 11:00 a.m. ET, on ESPN.

Myrtle Beach, S.C. (May 6 , 2024) – Golfers at the Myrtle Beach Classic may be playing before a sellout crowd on Saturday at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, as the area’s first PGA TOUR event continues to gain momentum heading into tournament week (May 9-12).

Myrtle Beach Regional Sports Alliance was honored by Sports ETA as the 2024 Sports Tourism Organization of the Year, population under 500,000 category. The Myrtle Beach Regional Sports Alliance was one of 10 awardees honored today among the 800 Sports ETA member organizations.

Nine local social service charities have been selected to receive a grant from revenue generated by the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic, scheduled May 6-12 at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, meaning the event will not only showcase the Grand Strand, but also benefit the area. A total of $225,000 will be allocated for 2024.

As the PGA TOUR comes to The Golf Capital of the World for the first time with the debut of the Myrtle Beach Classic, the tournament will feature a one-of-a-kind qualifying tournament with the winner receiving a sponsor exemption into the TOUR event.

 IMG today announced on December 8th that the 47th World’s Strongest Man (WSM) competition will return to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from May 1-5, 2024. In partnership with Visit Myrtle Beach, next year’s competition will offer reserved general admission seating to enhance the fan experience and a consolidated center stage for the four-day, action-packed competition.

For the first time in its five-year history, the Myrtle Beach Invitational college basketball tournament held on the campus of Coastal Carolina University (CCU) will showcase three South Carolina schools: CCU, the College of Charleston and Furman University.
