The Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) continues to see record-breaking passenger counts this summer. In June 2021, the number of people arriving on flights, or deplanements, totaled 230,333 compared to 170,059 in 2019. Total passenger traffic, which includes both arriving and departing passengers, totaled 451,750, a 35.2% increase from 334,340 passengers in June 2019, MYR’s previous best June on record.

Travel is booming in Myrtle Beach, and the city’s largest carrier is celebrating 25 years of service by stepping up with more bright yellow planes to meet the demand. Spirit Airlines (NYSE: SAVE) confirmed its summer schedule will offer nearly 200 flights each week with nonstop service to 19 destinations—which represents a 40 percent increase in flights compared to the carrier’s 2019 service levels at Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR).
