USA Today Reports Myrtle Beach Number 1 Affordable City Where People Want to Live

In a recent article released by USA Today, Myrtle Beach was named the number one affordable city “where everyone wants to live right now.”

USA Today reprinted the article produced by 24/7 Wall St. which used data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Analysis to identify the 50 most affordable American metropolitan areas to which Americans are moving. Each city on the list offers a cost of living that is lower than the national average and housing costs that are more in line with incomes. Research also shows that between 2010 and 2018, more people have moved to these cities than have left.

“Myrtle Beach continues to earn the recognition it so richly deserves,” said Karen Riordan, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “To be the number one city where people desire to live is certainly a testament to the quality of life we enjoy here on the Grand Strand. Our 60 miles of beautiful coastline attracts many visitors here for the first time, and our southern hospitality, wealth of entertainment and dining options and great climate bring many back here to live, work and play.”
