“Greater Myrtle Beach Collaborative” Unveiled ...

The Greater Myrtle Beach Collaborative has officially launched as the new enterprise identity established to enhance the efforts of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Visit Myrtle Beach, along with Partnership Grand Strand, Collaborate2031, Leadership Grand Strand, Grand Strand Young Professionals and additional initiatives. Through “The Collaborative,” these organizations will serve under a single platform dedicated to driving economic prosperity and improving quality of life throughout the greater Myrtle Beach area.

Beach Renourishment Update for Myrtle Beach ...

Beach renourishment in Myrtle Beach is scheduled to begin next week, with work expanding to include the Arcadian Shores area just north of the city. The project remains on track for completion by Memorial Day, and the beach will stay open throughout construction with only small sections temporarily closed.

The Post and Courier reported that hospitality and tourism hires in Myrtle Beach helped make the coastal community one of the hottest U.S. job markets of the last five years.

Early Fall, The Stormy Tourist Season

Once again, the early fall tourist season along South Carolina’s Grand Strand, the coastal sections of Horry and Georgetown counties, was marred by at least one hurricane warning and evacuation. The average occupancy percentages (APO), as reported by Coastal Carolina University’s Clay Brittain Jr. Center for Resort Tourism, for hotels, condo-hotels, and campsites (HC-HCs) units rented nightly, and the estimated APO based on the percentage of units reserved for the vacation rental properties (VRPs) rented weekly, are shown in the table below.

First Half of 2019 Nets Strong Performance for Grand Strand Accommodations

A strong performance for the Grand Strand’s hotels, condo-hotels, and campsites during the first half of 2019. So far in 2019, average occupancy for the Center’s voluntary sample of hotel, condo-hotel and campgrounds rented nightly is up by 1.7 occupancy points, or 3.2 percent, compared with the equivalent period of 2018. During the same time, the average daily rate increased by 1.3 percent, raising revenue per available room down by 4.5 percent.
