Visit Myrtle Beach recently took the Myrtle Beach area’s family vacation story nationwide through a satellite media tour celebrating Family Fun Month.
In July, lifestyle and parenting expert Dawn Yanek participated in a morning of back-to-back television, radio and podcast interviews from A-1 Broadcast’s New York studio. Yanek is a Reader’s Digest senior editor, mother of two and founder of MomSanity.com.
Through satellite feeds, Yanek was interviewed by 26 outlets, from nationally syndicated programs to local TV and radio stations serving metro areas in key target markets, including New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Baltimore, Nashville and Atlanta.
As a high-profile parenting expert and spokesperson for Myrtle Beach, Yanek engaged each audience by sharing how the Myrtle Beach area makes it easy for families to plan an affordable getaway filled with opportunities to reconnect. Using her credibility and knowledge of the Grand Strand, she highlighted key family-travel advantages, including the destination’s 60 miles of coastline, abundant entertainment and a variety of experiences for families with different ages and interests.
The conversations brought Myrtle Beach’s mix of classic traditions and newer attractions to life. Featured experiences included collecting seashells, exploring the Boardwalk, riding the SkyWheel, playing mini golf in the Mini Golf Capital of the World, dolphin watching, racing go-karts, tackling ropes courses and discovering the area’s diverse dining scene. Yanek also discussed newer attractions such as Ole Smoky Distillery and Guy Fieri’s Downtown Flavortown.
Affordability was another important part of the message. The tour highlighted the “Make More Myrtle Moments” promotion, which offered travelers opportunities to extend their stays and receive additional nights free at participating accommodations.
Initial results show that the tour delivered impressive national exposure. According to the latest report from A-1 Broadcast, the segments have generated a total reported audience of 25,057,742 across approximately 20 airings. An additional six to seven segments are still expected to air, meaning the final audience could grow even further.
The satellite media tour allowed Visit Myrtle Beach to share the destination’s family travel story with millions of potential visitors through a trusted national voice and, more importantly, it reinforced what makes the Myrtle Beach area special. Families can enjoy exciting attractions and entertainment while still finding the time and space to slow down, reconnect and create lasting memories together.
